Decree in 30 seconds

If you can read it, you can roughly tell what it does. That is how Decree is written.

「こんにちは!」と表示
名前 = 「お名前は?」と聞く
「{名前}さん、ようこそ」と表示
say "Hello!"
name = ask "What is your name?"
say "Welcome, {name}"
Output
Hello!
What is your name?
› Hana
Welcome, Hana

Built so beginners don't get stuck

Nothing to set up

Download, double-click, done. The editor is included, so you write and press ▶ right there.

English or Japanese

say and 「表示」 mean the same thing. You can even mix them in one file, and convert with one button.

Friendly errors

When something goes wrong, Decree tells you where, why, and how to fix it — in plain words, with “did you mean”.

Fetch & save in one line

Grab a web page and save it to a file in just one or two lines. No libraries, no setup.

For example, when you misspell a name
Stumbled on line 3
  3 | say "Hello {nme}"
                 ^^^
There is no name called "nme" yet.
Did you mean: "name" (made on line 1)
Hint: make it first, like "nme = …".

All of these just work

Decree doesn't get angry over small differences.

  • say "hi"
  • print "hi"
  • say("hi")
  • 「hi」と表示
  • 「hi」と表示して
  • 表示 「hi」

Full-width (= 123) and half-width (= 123) characters are treated the same.

Decree = a royal command

You are the king. The computer obeys.

A decree is a royal command. Write your command, and the computer follows it exactly.
No magic spells — just write what you want done, in everyday words.

Now, your first command.

You can also try it right in your browser before installing.
